WORLDTAFL · THE HALL OF NAMES

The Legend: eleven ranks, one ladder

The TAFL ranked ladder is the real war-hierarchy of the Viking Age. Your T-Score is your standing in the host. Every rated game on any board moves it. Climb.

TAKEN ONLY FROM HUMANS · NO BOT CAN CARRY YOU HERE

HUMAN ONLY

KONUNGR

The king. Supreme commander of fleets, holding the loyalty of every chieftain beneath him. The game bows to a handful in a generation.

HUMAN ONLY

JARL

The earl. A warlord and regional ruler who commands fleets and warriors of his own. The gold arm-ring is given, never bought.

2000T-SCORE

THE HIGH HOST

HERSIR

The chieftain who sounds the horn and raises the levy. The highest rank the bot hall can witness: past here, only warriors weigh you.

1850T-SCORE

SKEPPARE

Skipper of a chiefly vessel. The crew, the sail and the landfall are yours to answer for.

1700T-SCORE

STALLARI

The king's marshal in the field, deputy of the battle line, keeper of the standard that must not fall.

1550T-SCORE

THEGN

The thane. A mature, proven warrior of the inner retinue. Nothing about your game is an accident any more.

1400T-SCORE

THE HOUSEHOLD

BERSERKER

The shock troop, first through the shieldwall. Wild, brilliant, feared at every table. The claw-marks are earned.

1300T-SCORE

HIRDMANN

The household guard. A professional, fed and housed by your lord, soldiering as a trade and not a season.

1200T-SCORE

GESTIR

The retainer at the hall door: guard, collector, keeper of keys. Trusted with small things, watched for greater ones.

1100T-SCORE

THE LEVY

DRENG

The young and the daring, seax in hand, name still unmade. Every legend in this hall once held this rank.

1000T-SCORE

KARL

The free farmer of the levy, the bulk of every host that ever sailed. Free, armed, and at the table. The climb starts here.

<1000T-SCORE

There is no rank of Thrall. Thralls were not permitted to fight, and this is a game of war: whoever takes the board is free.

One T-Score for the whole game, moved by every rated battle on any board, weighed by the strength of the foe and the quality of your play. New names sit on THE SCALES until five weighed battles earn a seat. The bot hall can carry a warrior no higher than HERSIR: the last two ranks are taken from humans, at the king's table.
